When an election is approaching, the signs of the campaigns (figuratively and literally) can take over the public life of a community. Candidates are promoted on billboards, posters, yard signs, and advertisements in all media. What qualities make these promotions effective? In this activity, students will compare and analyze the strategies that campaigns use to communicate their messages to the public—and to elect their candidate.
