Students learn about the people who make the laws for their community, state, and nation. They distinguish the 3 branches of the U.S. government and define the legislative branch as the lawmaking branch. Students split into teams to research the people who make the laws at each level of government and who must follow those laws. They work together to make a chart and present what they learn.
