An unusual feature of the Harry Potter novels is that the characters mature and develop from 1 book to the next, as does the author’s writing style and narrative structure. In this activity, students analyze and compare selections from the series. They discuss how the books take both the characters and the reader on a journey from age 11 to age 17. Students do not need to have read the Harry Potter series to enjoy this activity.
