S.INQ Invisible Forces
8 Activities
Grades K - 5
10 Hours
Learning Standards: Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)
Overview
S.INQ Invisible Forces explores state, magnetic, and other invisible forces that youth can engage with simple materials. This curriculum offers activities that guide youth through STEM concepts using the engineering design process. Every lesson includes time for brainstorming and reflection and allows ample opportunity for hands-on exploration.

S.INQ Invisible Forces: Magnetic Force
In this lesson, students test different objects to see if the magnetic force is strong enough to pass through and attract a paper clip.
Grades K - 5
30 Minutes
2
2
S.INQ Invisible Forces Gravity & Circuits
Students will use knowledge about conductive materials to build a circuit using at least 3 different materials.
Grades 3 - 8
30 Minutes
3
3
S.INQ Invisible Forces Static Electricity
This activity helps students test various objects to see which are affected by an electrically charged balloon.
Grades K - 5
30 Minutes
4
4
S.INQ Invisible Forces Magnetic Attraction
In this lesson, students test different objects to see which objects are attracted to the magnet and which objects aren't.
Grades K - 5

S.INQ Invisible Forces Magnetic Strength
In this lesson, students connect paper clips, one at time to test the strength of their magnet. They will test two different magnets to see which can hold more, and then try to make their magnetic force stronger.
Grades K - 5
30 Minutes

6
S.INQ Invisible Forces Magnetic Challenge
In this lesson, students move simple objects through a maze using a magnet, experimenting with various metal materials and reflecting on what worked and what didn't.
Grades K - 5
30 Minutes
7
7
S.INQ Invisible Forces Magnets & Circuits
In this lesson, students experiment with objects to see which ones react to a magnet, becoming magnetized and capable of picking up other metal objects.
Grades K - 5
30 Minutes

8
S.INQ Invisible Forces Relay
In this lesson, students compete with each other to move objects from one place to another using magnets.
