Students participate in simulated shopping, with some spending play money in local mock stores while others act as proprietors. These stores are all small businesses (i.e., not large chains or box stores) and offer items attractive to consumer students, who will have to determine how and where to spend their money. After a shopping trip, total receipts from each store will be counted. A group discussion will include why students made their choices and how their choices as consumers affected the businesses.
