Teams can be any size, from a few members to hundreds; we can support as many folks as you have!
To keep things simple, there are 4 permission types in Mizzen For Teams. Here's how they work:
- Team Admins — Admins can access all sites, classes, and all other features in their Team. They also manage the staff list and the team's profile.
- Site Members — Members may be assigned to 1 or more sites. When this happens, they can effectively manage the site(s) they are assigned to. Site members can:
- Can add new team members to their sites and classes.
- Can use all other features related to their sites and classes.
- They cannot access the team's usage reports.
- They cannot designate team admins.
- Class Members — Members may be assigned to 1 or more classes.
- They can make changes to the class' info (days of week the class meets, the color of the class, and the name of the class).
- They can only access the calendars for classes that they are members of.
- They cannot access the team's usage reports.
- They cannot invite new members to the team or add other members to their class. The staff list is read only.
- Team Observers — A birds-eye view to all of the features in the app, EXCEPT usage reports.
- Can view staff list, but make no changes (unless they are also assigned to sites).
- Team observers can be added directly to sites or classes as well. This gives them the same permissions as the site/class members above.
- Without being added directly to the class or site:
- Can view all sites and classes, but can make no changes to the site or class info or rosters.
- Can view all calendars, but cannot add events to them.
- Cannot take a head count.
Mizzen for Teams is completely free! Get more information here.
To add people to your team, you need to be a Team Admin or a Site member.
- Head to the staff list by selecting your team's name in the menu bar, then select 'staff list'.
- On the top right select “add”.
- If you only have 1 or a few members to add, type in the name and enter the email address of the team member you wish to invite. The 'add another' checkbox will make it a little faster for you to enter the next member without having to click 'add' again.
- If you have a lot of members to add, click 'bulk import' to make your life easier! Read how bulk import works below.
Bulk import lets you upload a CSV of members to invite, then we'll handle sending out the invitations.
- To bulk import a lot of members at once to your team, go to the staff list, select 'add', then select 'bulk import'.
- The Mizzen bulk import tool provides a csv template for you to use. You can download it here. The 'name' and 'email' columns are required. Each row should have one name and one email address. The 'notes' column is optional, you can put any information you'd like in here to help you with assigning members to sites and classes in the next step.
- Clicking “select csv” will allow you to choose the CSV from your computer to upload.
- After you add your csv, click 'upload'.
- Now, you can assign members to sites & classes or make them team admins or team observers. If you don’t want to do this step now, that's okay. You can do it later too from the staff list. When you're ready, click 'next' again.
- You will then see a summary of what invites will be sent out and other information about this buik import.
- Click 'send' to send the invitations.
- A confirmation message will appear next. You are all done, click 'close'!
Easy! Only team admins can remove members from the team. Go to the staff list, right click the member you want to remove and select 'remove member from this team'. Please note: any member who has been removed from a team will still have access to their account, but not any of the Mizzen For Teams features.
- Go to “Sites & Classes” from the team's drop down menu in the navigation bar.
- On the left side, select the 'new' button.
- Enter the number of sites and/or classes you wish to add. After sites and classes are added, they can be assigned different names, colors, and staff.
- Go to “Sites & Classes” from the team's drop down menu in the navigation bar.
- Drag any class into the site you wish. Classes can also be moved out of a site into another (or not in a site at all) by dragging and dropping them as needed.
Please note that sites cannot be put into other sites.
Each Mizzen educator has their own calendar that they can manage as they see fit. When part of a Team, each classroom has their own calendar that can be managed by any member that can see that classroom.
Resources can be added to the calendar by selecting the “schedule” button from any Mizzen resource.
You can find the calendar view from the Team navigation menu, or by clicking on the “calendar” button in the top right of the navigation bar.
Additionally, any resource or event can be added to the calendar from the calendar itself.
- Click the “+ event” button on any day/time you wish.
- Enter in the title of the event, or select the “+ activity” button to search the Mizzen library for a resource.
- Alternatively, you can add ANY link you wish to your calendar by selecting the “+ link” button.
- Add the rest of the day/time details you need.
- You can put the event or resource on any calendar you wish by selecting the “send to classes” button.
- Alternatively, you can send it to any colleague's calendar by selecting the “Invite Teammates” button.
- Finally, click “schedule” to add it to the calendar.
The team profile is managed by Team Admins and provides basic information about the team and who the main contact is for the Team. We strongly recommend keeping this information up to date.
The head count feature allows different classrooms to quickly enter in a 'head count' of how many students are present, tardy, or absent for a given day.
Team Admins manage the permissions of members from the Staff List. For any member, simply click the “team observer” or “team admin” checkboxes to give that member those permissions. Alternatively, members can be assigned to specific sites or classes by double clicking in the site or class columns and selecting the respective sites or classes to assign them to.
Make sure you click save when you're done!
Team administrators can keep tabs on which features are being used (and how much), as well as which resources are popular for their team, and a breakdown of usage by each member of the team.
