Clothes make a statement about the person wearing them. That's true whether the clothing is a pair of blue jeans, a brightly colored scarf or hat, a flashy jacket, or even a school sweatshirt. T-shirts offer an especially unique way to present art or statements. The first printed T-shirts appeared in the 1950s, and today they remain as popular as ever. In this activity, students research and discuss the statement they would like to make with a T-shirt and then brainstorm ideas and sketch their own designs.
